Cuckoo being fed by a reed warbler.

One of the traditions here in the Limousin is that if you have money in your pocket when you hear the first cuckoo in spring then you will be rich all year. If you have no money in your pocket when you hear it, then you will be poor. Unfortunately I very rarely keep money in my pockets!

The fabulous photo I used as a reference was published in the Daily Telegraph and was by a photographer named David Kjaeri

I would rather LOOK AT YOUR gallery than just thank you for faving my work. So please excuse my bad manners if you fave or comment on my work, because I will not be thanking you. Instead I will be looking at your work!

Wow! Super work! :D

And....your piece made me look up the Cuckoo. I had no idea until today that they don't raise their own young, but rather, lay the eggs in other birds nests and leave them for the unsuspecting birds to raise. Even the Cuckoo hatchling will instinctively throw the other eggs or hatchlings out of the nest to insure their survival.

Yes, they're really interesting birds, but it's sad that it's such hard work for the small bird that has to feed it!

Must be scary to be a songbird and have a cuckoo in your nest.... They don't actually realize what's goin on but I imagine it's still scary.
